From building a health post in the Lechana Settlements to donating cash proceeds and sanitary pads to the youth in the central region, the Marathon Organisers have been committed to empowering and changing lifes in the region. Motivational programs and presentations have also been employed as critical initiatives aimed at building lifes for hundreds of youth across the central region. Now as the impact of COVID-19 which threatened the livelihoods of many of the citizens in Botswana, the Marathon Executive Team have this year resolved to raising awareness about Mental Health and its Disoders in the 7th Edition.
The race commits to dedicating the 7th edition race to mobilizing everybody to take action to improve the nations understanding on mental health and its disorders. Consolidated efforts will be made to Increase awareness, encourage advocacy, improve policies and share experiences. Different mediums of communication such as television, print media, race activations, social media and other channels will be employed to address this serious challenge.
We wish to invite government departments, parastatals, private companies and individuals to consider partnering with us in our efforts to tackling mental health challenges in Botswana. We believe that working together will ensure a happier, healthier and longer lives for all people including the youth.
The proposed budget for the promotion of theme amounts to nine hundred thousand pula (P9,000 000.00) and we will be happy to welcome donations of any kind.
